In just the past two days since our last post, so much has happened I feel I must post a few more pictures just to keep up. It has been so much fun!

We really have enjoyed starting out our time in Israel right where Jesus started the majority of his life–In the Galilee region. This sunset over the Sea of Galilee was just gorgeous.

Synagogue At Capernaum:  DavidlovesPriscilla00003

What we believe is a first century synagogue could very well have been the one that Jesus gave his message about being the bread of life. It was in Capernaum that he called Matthew to be his disciples, told Peter to catch a fish and pay the taxes, and made regular visits to persuade people to follow the truth.

It was also in this place that we believe Jesus healed the man with an unclean spirit cry out, “Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God” (Mark 1:24).

One of the reasons we conclude this was built in Jesus day was from the shape of the columns. If you look at it from the top, it looks like a heart.DavidlovesPriscilla00013

Peter’s house historically is known to be here and one of the earliest Christian Churches established directly under the building pictured. DavidlovesPriscilla00009

Priscilla enjoyed seeing the fish jump in the Jordan River.DavidlovesPriscilla00014

DavidlovesPriscilla00015Along our path, we stopped at a beautiful water fall near Gamla along the Golan. The Golan Heights is very near the bordering nations of Syria and Lebanon and are therefore pretty well guarded.

Not long there after we saw a sign which said, “Warning, tank crossing!” We happened to see several cross. Before long, we had permission to not only take this picture….

But the kind tank commander gave us a personal tour of the inside as long as we did not take pictures of the inside.

We sure enjoyed seeing how God has blessed Israel with such excellent technology including the iron dome defense system. (right in front of Priscilla)DavidlovesPriscilla00018

These tanks had been practicing in this field and using this old Syrian tank as a part of their offensive target practice. Thankfully, only blanks.DavidlovesPriscilla00017

They were waiting to be loaded on to Semi-trucks and taken back to the base, so we had a great opportunity to make friends with them and tour their equipment.DavidlovesPriscilla00016

The sunsets truly are beautiful here!DavidlovesPriscilla00019

Visiting Nazareth

DavidlovesPriscilla00020

Today we were blessed to be able to visit a replica village of Nazareth. DavidlovesPriscilla00021

It was even complete with “Mary and Joseph” riding on a donkey.

In the village we saw the demonstrations of cooking, agriculture, and carpentry.DavidlovesPriscilla00023

Paul did his best to audition to play the part of baby Jesus in the manger.

Priscilla even tried out as “Mary”

Wool was harvested and turned into yarn and then cloth.DavidlovesPriscilla00028 They also had a replica Synagogue. The roof was made out of a layer of bamboo, then mud mixed with straw, then dry dirt and then finally another layer of mud and straw. DavidlovesPriscilla00029

Valley Of Megiddo:

DavidlovesPriscilla00011

This historic site of many wars is not finished as a war zone. In fact, in spite of a very long history of wars it has really seen nothing compared to what we believe it will see according to Revelation 16:15-16. The Hebrew word Armageddon comes from Har meaning mountain and Megiddo which refers to this region. Wow!

DavidlovesPriscilla00008

The ruins of this particular mountain have anywhere from 15 to even 30 different eras of history.DavidlovesPriscilla00001DavidlovesPriscilla00033

What a fascinating part of the world we have found this all to be! Paul enjoyed sitting in one of Solomon’s horse feeding troughs. The stables designed for up to 500 horses have been uncovered.

  5. WOW JUST WOW!!! I love these pictures so much! I’m even bringing my family to the computer to show them, we’ve been watching the Bible movies on DVD and making sure we don’t lose sight of Jesus at this time of year and these picture fit right in!! We all love them, so from all of us.. have fun and thank you!!!

  6. Thank you for sharing David & Priscilla + Paul! It has been so enjoyable following your blog! I think I know now why Mum’s dream is to visit the Holy Land…and I revise my opinion of it after reading your posts. 🙂

  7. “Peter’s house historically is known to be here and one of the earliest Christian Churches established directly under the building pictured.”

That building is a church. The sanctuary has a glass floor so you can look directly into Saint Peter’s house.

  8. Hi Priscilla, in my opinion I don’t think that every wife favorite room would be the kitchen cause not every woman likes to cook nor does every wife cook. Many husbands like to cook and do most of the cooking in some house holds. Not being rude just stating my opinion.

  9. What a wonderful family adventure! I was just in Israel myself this year and recognize most of the locations pictured—so glad you all could go together! Thanks for posting.
