Paul’s First-Time Fishing!

In Family Updates, Featured by David Waller11 Comments

Paul has talked about going fishing since he learned how to talk. We are not even sure where he got the idea, but it exponentially increased from the time a little game with all the plastic little fish came into our home. On a Saturday morning, we finally got a chance to go fishing with his dad for the first time. Recently, Priscilla was at a resale shop and found fishing rod for $2. We then went and picked up basic fishing tackle rounding out our whole investment in fishing gear for under $8. Paul was ecstatic, and daddy was happy about the price.

Saturday morning, we all went to our garden area and dug up some nice fresh nightcrawlers and then headed for the pond near our home.DavidlovesPriscilla0808151022

Paul first wanted to carry the worms, then he wanted to carry the rod. He was so excited to be going with daddy.DavidlovesPriscilla0808151043a

The priceless expression of him catching his first fish! It was the perfect day for fishing because a lot of the little ones were biting. DavidlovesPriscilla0808151044

Catching it was his job, but this little fish did not want to give the hook back easily :-).

Check out a video of a later fish that Paul caught:

We fished for over an hour together. Paul’s attention did not fade. He also recently learned how to climb a tree and is always up for other adventures.

Biking to Chicago

On another Saturday, we had the blessing of some of David’s siblings watching Paul and Davia while we took an early morning ride to downtown Chicago.
DavidlovesPriscilla0801151017Just a few more miles to go and we were inspired because we caught sight of the Willis Tower. In all, we biked well over twenty miles. David’s siblings met us down town with the children and we drove our car back while they drove the bikes back home.

  4. That first picture is too cute!!! Paul looks so happy!
    Way to go, little man!!

What trail did you guys take on your bike ride downtown?
We live near a west suburban Metra station and sometimes talk about having a biking adventure, pack a backpack picnic and bike till we see the lake (we would take Metra home). Any advice would be much appreciated!

    Blessings.

  5. Praise the LORD for the little “firsts” in life – and for His grace to make them special, memory-filled moments.

It is a joy and encouragement to see you, David & Priscilla, investing wholeheartedly into guiding and directing the lives of the precious gifts God has entrusted to your care. What a privilege — a tremendous responsibility. May He continue to give you wisdom throughout the journey, strengthening you for the all-important task. And may your efforts reap a bountiful harvest unto His praise and glory!

  6. Paul is getting so big! And you guys both look amazing! I see so much love just glowing from both your faces and it is truly inspiring. I love hearing about the children and hearing encouraging stories regarding your relationship with each other and with God. Praying for your family and always excited about the possibility of more little Waller babies in the future! <3

  7. How our world needs Godly families holding to the truth of His Word. We praise God for yours. The Lord bless u.

  8. That was so adorable! It reminded me of my son’s first time fishing. He didn’t catch a fish then, but this spring he caught 8 trout on his teeny little spider-man pole. He had the same look of pride in himself as Paul. Your little man is so cute!!

  9. This post reminds me of an article in the Bright Arrows magazine, written by Isaac Waller, about a time he laid down his right, and took an excited little brother, David fishing.
