A critical decision when getting married is not just who you will marry, but do you agree on the issues of children and family life. The most important aspect of course is not what his or her opinion is, but do you both agree to embrace God’s opinion and love for children. Since the beginning of our marriage we felt led to trust the Lord with the size of our family and welcome every blessing that He would give to us.

Baby on the Way

Children are such a reward from the Lord as it states in Psalm 127:3-5: “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.”

Children are such a blessing even though they are also a lot of responsibility. We desire to allow these pressures to draw us closer to the Lord. Someone once said that you can let problems and challenges either draw you closer to each other or drive you further apart. This is true with our spouse as well as with the Lord. Recently, Priscilla shared a few thoughts on what she has been learning. Listen below:

  7. Congratulations!!!! I am thrilled for you.

  8. Wow! Exciting news. I’m so happy that God has blessed your family with another sweet baby. As you know, a sibling is a great gift from God. Thank you Priscilla for that wonderful message. I recently had my fourth son and have been daydreaming about a bigger home. The home I have now is 1290 sq ft but right by wonderful parks, my older sons’ elementary school, by my husbands job and a very low mortgage. I have felt a tug on my heart to stay and be content because always chasing a new dream will not make me content and closer to the Lord. Your video has really encouraged me to trust God. What I have now is everything I ever wanted 10 years ago. God has blessed me so much even though I have failed him many times. Thank you for those wonderful reminders!!!

    God bless,
    Stephanie

  12. Congratulations! Siblings can be a wonderful aspect of life; I’m sure that Paul will love his little brother/sister. :)

  13. Thank you for being so “real” in the last video Priscilla. Your thoughts & scriptural insights on comparing ourselves to each other helped me immensely! How old are you Priscilla? I am a little older than your sister Anna, so I wonder if we are around the same age. I am married and desire to start having children, but my husband and I are concerned with being able to afford a child. Do you have any helps or thoughts on that subject? Please feel free to contact me using the email address I provided. Congratulations on the news of your new baby!

  14. Congratulations! I’m sure you will have another beautiful baby. Priscilla’s video seemed to be directed right at me today! Thank you so much, it was very encouraging.

  15. Congratulations!! :) How exciting that another precious blessing is on her or her way. And thank you for that last video, that was a blessing.

  16. Hi David and Priscilla,

I just wanted to write a comment and say how much Priscilla’s YouTube video encouraged me with Motherhood. I am a Mum to a 5 month old baby boy named Nathanael (a gift from the Lord) only yesterday I was comparing myself with a friend who has no children. Listening to her social life I became discouraged. I just want to thank you for your godly wisdom and counsel. Your video encouraged me just when I needed it so thank you so much for sharing the word that God placed on your heart. I pray that the Lord will feel ever so close throughout your pregnancy.
    Congratulations on your wonderful news!

  17. Congratulations! So happy for your sweet family and will be praying for you all!

  18. Congratulations! Paul is a blessed child to have you as parents because you are awesome parents! You both have so much Godly wisdom to teach to children. New houses and other material things are nice but what you have to offer a family is so much more valuable.

  19. Priscilla! You are always so encouraging and so sweet. While you may look to other mothers as an inspiration, know that many are looking at YOU as our encouragement. Thank you for being sweet and real and honest. You have such a beautiful and kind heart, thank you for sharing it with the world.

Also, I loved the “God makes fingerprints not cookie cutters.” I, in all my churched years, never heard that phrase! What a special way to remember how special each of us are!

May the Lord bless and keep the FOUR of you!

  20. your last video was wonderful…even for a more seasoned mom like me! thank you!

  21. Congratulations!

  22. Congratulations! Thank you for the encouragement! Just want I needed to hear and the Lord is also working in my heart. Many blessing to you and your family

  23. Oh, I am so happy to read this today. Congratulations to this precious young family. God bless you for your work in God’s Kingdom. I am a HUGE fan of the Duggars, Kellars, Bates and the Wallers!!!

Look forward to seeing and reading updates. We have 3 beautiful grandchildren and one due Sept, 29 and we are excited just like it is our first. I hope to see you on TV Lord willing a lot more in the future.

    Sincerely,

    Tonya Fagg

  24. Huge congratulations! Such wonderful news I am thrilled for you both. You are such an encouragement :)

  25. Hi Again,

I just wanted to add that Priscilla you are an amazing mum! Don’t ever doubt yourself. You and David are going to raise such godly children. I look forward to following your family throughout the years :)

  26. First, I want to say congratulations to the two of you on the impending arrival of your newest bundle of joy! Im sure Paul and his new brother or sister will become very close friends-that’s the best thing about having close in age siblings, theres always someone about your age to play with!

Priscilla, you are not alone. Every mother feels like that at some point, and there must be so much pressure with being in laws to the Duggars, like that everyone expects you to parent like Michelle, and have that many kids (even more so for the three of their kids who are in relationships now, on TV for everyone to see and judge). Its a lot to live up to.

You may not be Michelle Duggar, but youre a great mom. Im sure when Michelle just had Josh, she felt the same, she started out just like you too. Its a first time mom thing, youre new to this, and I bet with the next baby you will feel more confident because you’ve been through it all before and you know that you got through all the challenges of parenthood with Paul and he turned out okay.

Michelle is also someone who has such a rare life-there is only a handful of other people who have so many children, most of us just aren’t that fertile. And that’s okay. I do wish sometimes that I had that many kids and a TV show that gives me loads of opportunities to travel the world, but I have four wonderful children and a life that I wouldn’t change for the world. However many kids you have, whether its just these two or you go on to have ten more, you will be a great mom.

Theres so much judgement in parenting these days, it seems like everyone has an opinion, and their opinion is right and that everyone who doesn’t share their opinion is a bad parent. Take no notice of them, as they are wrong. There are so many right ways to parent, for every parenting method in books and on the internet that insists their way is the only way to get a well behaved kid, has people who followed it and had good kids, and people who did the complete opposite and also have kids who are well behaved. Of course these resources say their method is the best way, its marketing, they make people feel they need to buy their book or give their website hits.

As long as you are providing your kids with a safe place to live, weather appropriate clothes, good food, keeping them clean and paying attention to them, and aren’t neglecting or abusing them, you are doing it right. I think youre doing a great job-Paul is a very happy, healthy baby who is obviously loved and looked after.

The only things you really need to do with parenting is trust your instincts, parenting is the most natural thing in the world. If something feels right for your child, do it, if it doesn’t, don’t do it. Stop comparing yourself or your child to others-all babies develop at different rates, and every parent is different. And cherish every day, as they grow up so fast :)

It is so honest of you to admit it, its refreshing. We are all human and none of us are perfect.

  27. Congrats!!! You guys are one of my inspirations for when I’m older, I hope to be somewhat like you and your families are. For now, I am going to learn and be excited when you guys are expecting a new precious little gift from the LORD.

  28. CONGRATS on the new blessing!

    Priscilla,
Thank you so much for that video!
It really helped me and cheered me up.
    I’ve been a comparing wife.
As a rather new wife it is sometimes really hard to find Godly encouragement these days.
I know life is soon to be even busier for you, but I hope you won’t stop making videos like that.

Sending best wishes and prayers to you and your family.

  29. Priscilla, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and scripture in the last video. It was very inspirational and encouraging. God bless you as your family continues to grow.

  30. Thank you for that last video, Priscilla! It was the best thing I have heard all day and much needed. I am a single 22 year old, but can so relate to the comparison trap you spoke about and the tendency to be discontent. For me, desiring to have a godly husband and be a wife and mom can take over my thinking at times and make me want to be in a stage of my life I am not. It is so important to have the Lord as first in our life and to be ever-grateful for the things we do have and where we are, because we have so much! God is SO good and Jesus is our Perfect Husband, but it sure is easy to forget that or think of other things as more important than living for Him right where we are. So, thanks for the reminder that although life has its struggles, we can be fully content in Christ and there is reason to rejoice! And thank you for being transparent and sharing with us your heart.

Congratulations and many blessings to your family! I pray your pregnancy goes extremely well and you all are able to thoroughly enjoy this time of waiting and preparing, and spending time with Paul while he’s still an only child!

    Love and peace from Texas,
    Shannon

  31. Thank you, Priscilla. Your words hit home and I am glad the Lord brought your words to my ears tonight. I have five little blessings at home and hate the fact that I have gotten angry with them at times. i, too, have felt defeated. You are right…God wants us to rise up and follow Him again, even after we have fallen. Thank you so much for sharing. God is so good to call us back to Him after we sin. And your words about comparing ourselves to others was just what I needed to hear. Thank you.
Congratulations on your coming little one! I remember with great fondness having our second baby. You will have a blast! Having two little children at home is a very precious time!
Praying God’s blessings upon you and your family. You are very sweet.

  32. Whoo hoo!! I am so happy for all three… oh wait… four of you! I remember when I was expecting my son, I was terrified and overjoyed simultaneously. But what a blessing he is!

Priscilla ~ Thank you for sharing your heart with us. I was talking to a couple of friends about feeling discouraged, inadequate, and unappreciated. The advice I got was the opposite of some of the things you said in your video. It is refreshing to hear the perspective of a wife and mother who desires to be Godly above all else. A few days ago, I read a poem. It reminded me of why I do what I do and it helped me refocus. Sometimes I think I’m going to go crazy if I have to wash one more dish or pick up one more toy. But now I pray – I’m washing these dishes as a small act of service and love for You, Lord. Sometimes I forget that I can serve Him in small and unnoticed ways throughout my day. I thought I’d share the poem with you.

Lord of all pots and pans and things,
Since I’ve not time to be
A saint by doing lovely things
    Or watching late with Thee
Or dreaming in the dawn light
    Or storming Heaven’s gates
Make me a saint by getting meals
    And washing up the plates.

Warm all the kitchen with Thy love,
And light it with Thy peace
    Forgive me all my worrying
    And make my grumbling cease.
Thou who didst love to give men food
In room or by the sea
Accept this service that I do,
For I do it unto Thee.

    God bless you!

  33. Congratulations!! I will be praying for you and your little blessing!!

  34. So happy for you, David and Priscilla, and for little Paul! May the Lord’s blessings be on this new little one, and may He continue to bless your whole family.

Priscilla, I love the life-lessons of 2 Cor. 10:12, as well as the numerous New Testament passages on being content. I have to say here that I am so grateful to Kelly Bates for bringing the 2 Corinthians’ verse to my knowledge in her blog. I had not seen it before! Thank you, too, for this sweet reminder. The Lord is so good to give us His Word to lead and guide us through life! God bless you all!

  35. Wow, I’m not surprised at all, congratulations to Priscilla and David on Expecting their 2nd Child in November 2014.

  36. When do you find out what you’re having, or do you want to be surprised? :)

  37. Off the subject, but do you and Priscilla follow a formal Bible reading plan? I’d like to do something a little more structured and would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

    God bless you!

  38. Priscilla,

I am not a Christian, but I find your words so encouraging and empowering. To not compare oneself to another, but to strive to be Godly. To be content and count one’s blessings, and not focus on what we don’t have.

As I explore Christianity further, words such as yours serve to highlight the warmth and loving spirit of the faith.

Congratulations to you and David as you become parents again.

  39. Congratulations to you both, I wish you all the happiness that this new life has to offer
I’m certain Paul will be a wonderful big brothers
    Congrats guys :)

  40. Congrats and God bless to both you (all three really, with Paul)!!! And thanks to Priscilla for being so open and sharing in the last video. I’m not married or a mother quite yet, but this video has really helped me as a young single women, struggling with feeling inadequate in my journey in comparison to others. All the best to all of you!

  41. Congratulations!!:) i am wishing you the best with this pregnancy and hope you will really enjoy having 2 children!! Thanks for the video, it was encouraging:) God bless you!

  42. Hy Guys , congratulations for the new baby on the way , how many children do you want David ?

  43. Congratulations. What a lovely family for a baby to be born into. Wish you all the best.

  44. Congratulations on the new blessing! That is exciting news!! Also… Thank you for sharing your thoughts and lessons on motherhood. It has been fun seeing you grow in your role as a Godly wife + mom. You are a blessing to young moms!!

  45. I just wanted to take an opportunity to say what a blessing you both are. I so enjoy hearing you share the incredible things the Lord plants in your heart Priscilla. Wish there was a lady like yourself who could lead a women’s Bible study at my church. We all need to hear such wonderful nuggets of truth. Thank you so much. God bless you all three and soon to be four.

  46. Congratulations on the news of a new baby on the way! The video above is also encouraging, and it is a good reminder to strive to be content with what God has blessed us within life. Praying that your pregnancy is great, and hoping for an easy delivery too. With love, Rachel. – from TN.

  47. Congratulations!! I happened upon your blog and I’ve been very encouraged by your walk with Christ and your care for others! Many blessings to your beautiful family!

  48. Congratulations!! So happy for yall!!!
    ~Brooke~

  49. I had to comment on Priscilla’s video- firstly, thank you! It was a huge encouragement taking in her message and watching and listening because sometimes I find myself defeated and thinking about how inadequate I am as a wife and mother and knowing the struggles of my heart like being content, etc., and I’m like, “Lord, I am so wretched and these other moms are so much better in every way than me” and just hearing other Christians admit they have their own struggles helps me to know I’m not alone in my battles, and to hear her encouragement was exactly what I needed. Thank you!!

  50. You have no idea how inspiring your message is to young and ‘mature’ mothers! You are a true blessing…

  51. when are we going to see you ? Please come back to us – we love you all :)

  52. Congratulations guys! I am so happy for you!

  53. Congratulations! What a beautiful family you are growing!

    With Love,
    Mara

  54. I wish we had been more aware, and thus open, to the reality that children are nothing short of a gift and blessing from God. We delayed trying for a family, and due to infertility, never conceived that we know of. We did, however, joyously adopt four children, praise God. I am trying, late into our parenting, to instill in our children an openness to God’s leading, whether that be marriage, a small or large family, adoption, etc. Congratulations on your very blessed news, and we look forward to hearing about this new little one’s arrival.

  55. Congratulations Waller family! How exciting! :)

  56. Congratulations to all 3 of you!! You are such a sweet family, and Priscilla, you are such a huge encouragement to me as a first time mom to a 10 month old! I love how uplifting and positive all of your posts and videos are, and they always put me in a good mood. Would love to hear more updates on the family! What is mealtime like
In your household? When do you have time to clean? I’m always curious about other families with little ones :)
Can’t wait to see some adorable baby bump pictures!!!
    Bless you all :)

  57. Congratulations! I’m so happy for you guys! Can you tell us when your due date is?

  58. Congratulations in the new baby! What a blessing! I am a mother of four children, three girls and one boy. Thank you Priscilla for the words you spoke to mothers, that was an encourangment to me. Me and my family lives in Sweden and we live in an area with fancy houses that you said that you were. We have been praying for a house for a long time and now we are happy to finally get one. We should be the mothers that God made us to be not be someone else. Nobody is perfect. I am grateful for beeing able to stay home with my children. Thats better than a fancy house. Have a blessed day!

  59. I just wanted to tell you that even though I am 49 years old and my only child is now almost 25 that I still get encouragement from listening to your video post. I also wanted to say congratulations to you, David and Paul on the exciting news about the new baby on the way, you all are so blessed. Keep encouraging our young women and men, this is your purpose.

  60. Hi David and Pricilla! Congratulations on your new bundle of joy! I am so excited for you and for little Paul he must be excited to have a sibling. Thank you for the updates. You are followed on twitter by me but I am under another name on twitter and facebook. any how thanks for all you do. God bless you.
Love from Houston, TX, Symantha AKA Elle

  61. Congrats on the new little bundle of joy! Paul is such a cute little boy!! God bless you!!!!

  62. Priscilla,
You have no idea how I needed to hear every word of what you said in this video. I often struggle with the issues you talked about as a mom. My husband and I have three children, and I tend to compare myself to other moms I know. I know God wanted me to see your video above; it was perfect timing! To God be the Glory! Thank you for being a godly example. You never know how many lives you’re touching. Also, congratulations on your upcoming bundle of joy! My two older children are both boys, and they’re two years apart in age. I remember thinking it wasn’t as difficult as I had imagined going from one to two children. Now… when baby girl #3 was born… kind of rocked our world, but in the most amazing way! It really wasn’t too crazy because I was more laid-back by then! haha! :) Anyway, I am happy for you guys, and wish you all the best. Thanks again for your encouragement.
    Allison

  63. Hi Priscilla and David! I was finishing my morning time with God and had just prayed for contentment as a mommy and wife then I “stumbled” on your site! Thank you for this Priscilla! Please share your mothers heart more often on this blog! Its a great encouragement to many young moms.
