Happy Mother’s day! There is not a person on the face of this earth who should not take a moment to honor the one who nurtured you for at least for the months you were in the womb, and for most of us, for much longer.

I celebrate this Mother’s Day with a whole new appreciation for mothers since I witnessed the birth of our first child, Paul William Waller. I was with Priscilla through the 27 hours of labor and then saw the joy come to her face as she saw our son for the first time. I can only imagine what she went through since I could only be there for her, but I know if that was all that a mom had to do, that would be enough for every one of us to show utmost gratefulness. Moms do so much more and we have taken so much for granted.

Growing up, my mother taught me so much about God just by the way she responded to life situations. Anyone who knows my mom knows that she is a direct and honest person, but her love for people empowered that candor to inspire people to put their faith and trust in Christ. Others, it challenged them to forgive an offender, or to trust the Lord with the size of their family and to love children.

Priscilla made these cute cards for our mothers using Paul's footprints.

I will never forget the time we went to get my first pair of “real” cowboy boots. I was consumed with what they would look like and how durable they were going to be. My mom, on the other hand, was taking time to talk to the young lady who was behind the counter about the Lord. Just about the time I had concluded which boots were best, I turned and saw the young lady in tears receiving Christ as her Savior. These are the memories that make mother’s day special, but this year I celebrate with a whole new appreciation for mothers!

  1. Happy Mother’s Day Priscilla! Thank you for this posting! It made me realize the areas I as a mother most work with more. Congrats on the birth of your child! He is beautiful! God Bless You guys!

  2. Happy 1st Mother’s Day Priscilla. Enjoy your day and your little bundle of joy. God Bless you!

  3. The prayer journal that Priscilla’s mom kept has really inspired me. What a wonderful idea and blessing! Thank you so much for this sweet and heart warming post. God be with you and your family!

  4. “Growing up, my mother taught me so much about God just by the way she responded to life situations.” I’m sure she did, David. I could say the same about my mother as well.

    • I never had parents who gave such a deep example as davids mom did. My mom is more reserved and gets irritated talking for a while about the Lord. She still manages to Care for me and show me love in her own special way. I admire her courage being a widower. My dad passed away 10 years or so ago. My biological mom wants nothing to do with God. David and priscilla are such an encouragement.

  5. Happy first Mother’s Day, Priscilla! Praying for you and David as you continue along in your journeys of parenthood!

    God Bless!

  6. When my eldest was a little baby I also felt that I wasn’t doing very much, that I wasn’t doing anything of significance or import. That my days (and nights) didn’t contribute to very much of anything. I was going through the motions of my day and looking after my baby but managed to feel a little lost like what I was doing didn’t count for very much. I very much empathise with the sentiments you shared in your video. However, as time went by I came to realise that what I was doing (which with a new baby consists of a lot of nursing and a lot of nappy changing and not a lot of much else – lol) was so very, very important and that nobody else could do for my baby what I was doing. No one could love him the way I did, or care for him in quite the way I did and no one could sit down and feed my baby for me as I breast-fed. I loved him, I nurtured him and I nourished him. I gave him the very best start in life that it’s possible to give. The mums who stand still, who stay at home, who sacrifice doing something “significant” are doing something amazing, wonderful and essential – they are raising their children and giving their love unconditionally – they are doing the most important job in the world. Priscilla, you are doing a wonderful job, keep you’re chin up and God Bless you, David and Paul. Thank you always for sharing your story. With love, Kirsty in Cheshire, England.

  7. Happy first Mother’s Day, Priscilla!

  8. HELLO DAVID AND PRISCILLA

  9. Thank you both for this lovely post. Women need to know that being a mother is truly the most honorable and noble work you will ever do. Granting mothers the awesome responsibility of raising children shows how much the Lord loves and honors women. The two of you are such a fine example for young men and women, in a world where our young people desperately need mentors and good example. May God bless you both.

  10. Hi Priscilla! Happy Mother’s Day! I wonder if David’s mom or your mom ever felt like what they were doing wasn’t of significance to God. But look at the fruit of their efforts. Each has raised up children in the Lord who are now continuing her work of teaching about God out in the world among His children. Her early efforts will have eternal rewards!! Much love this 1st Mother’s Day! I hope you celebrate many more happy days just like this one!

  16. Beautiful video. You are both wonderful and inspiring, and I’m grateful that the comments to you on this site are up building, unlike YouTube. Please don’t let crude people get to you.

This is probably an odd comment, but I wanted to say how beautiful your wedding rings are. I also have yellow gold and love it, but its an uncommon choice these days. Did you choose it to go with David’s watch?
